Holiday to the Isle of Wight

We visited the Isle of Wight a few times with Nanny, taking the ferry across from Southampton or Portsmouth.  You made us all laugh the first time we went because you kept calling it The Island of Wight.  We had great fun there, staying in caravans on different sides of the island and driving around exploring the whole place.

You loved dinosaurs and fossils, so this dinosaur island really sparked your interest.  We went on that guided fossil hunt one evening with Magalena from Poland.  She was so funny and kept saying "a big round of applause" in her wonderful accent, to anyone who knew anything or found something interesting. It was amazing as the tide had went out, she showed us those dinosaur footprints in the rocks.  You absolutely loved that.

We explored everywhere and you loved having fun with Dan and Maisie.  Some of our particular favourites were:    Blackgang Chine and Robin Hill, where you loved the rides, birds of prey(as always), riding down the hill in a cart; swimming in the sea and the pool, watching a lifeboat launch whilst eating fish and chips in the beach and riding the cable car down to see The Needles..  We were all fascinated when we discovered that Blackgang Chine was crumbling away into the sea due to the chalky cliffs.  I wonder how much of it is still there?  Daniel found that amazing sand dollar fossil just lying on the beach.  Happy times.
